Mardi Gras Copenhagen kickstartes med hyldestkoncert til ingen ringere end Mac Rebennack aka Dr. John. Siden 1960’erne kombinerede han blues, funk, jazz og soul i den lyd, der er så umiskendelig for ‘The Big Easy’. 

Eftermiddagens band består af medlemmer fra Jazz Five, Skipper/Just/Frost og Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado, tilsat fantastiske solister, der alle vil give deres bud på favoritnumre fra doktorens repertoire.

Special guest er den danske New Orleans legende Esben Just samt London baserede soul og blues sangerinde Samantha-antoinette, der bl.a. har sunget med Depeche Mode og Jamiroquai.

Koncerten præsenteres af Mardi Gras Copenhagen i samarbejde med Roots & Jazz.

Mardi Gras Copenhagen presents this once in a lifetime tribute to no one less than Mac Rebennack aka Dr. John. He has since the 60s combined blues, jazz, funk and soul and been one of the most important musicians in the music history of New Orleans. He passed away 2020, but his legacy will last forever including this concert.

The band consist of members from leading Danish New Orleans acts like Jazz Five, Skipper/Just/Frost and Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado. In addition to these, the Danish legend Esben Just and London based soul singer, Samantha-antoinette (Depeche Mode, Jamiroquai) are special guests.

The concert is presented by Mardi Gras Copenhagen in collaboration with Roots & Jazz.
